Archana Rao dazzles at LFW '15

Express News Service

Hyderabad-based Archana Rao’s collection at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort left a lasting impact.

The collection that was inspired from a 70-year-old apartment in Paris had a nostalgic appeal to it.

“The Apartment” for her ‘Frou-Frou’ label revived the memories of a bygone Parisian era.

Shades of a soft palette started with nudes, blush pinks, pearly whites and moved to strong hues of military green and ochré. Matching the gentle beauty of the colours was the mélange of fabrics that moved from versatile hosiery and frail nets, to pure cotton and sheer organza. Her attention to detail was very evident as embroidered cut-work and pearl minutiae added to the ethereal touch.

The show opened with an ochré net skirt sprinkled with green tassels and white shirt with pink appliqués on shoulder, followed by a crêpe tulle gown with pink tassels, cutwork white shoulder cape over maxi and a white shirt worn with will power slit kurta and many others.

Some interesting men’s wear appeared on the ramp where shirts and jackets were teamed with relaxed trousers. Stopping the show was the very petite Aditi Rao Hydari who glided down in an empire line light maroon layered cutwork gown.
