GHMC Proposes 9 More Conflict-free Corridors for Better Traffic Mobility

Express News Service

HYDERABAD: For improving overall traffic mobility and to reduce traffic congestion on major roads, GHMC proposes to develop 9 more stretches as ‘conflict-free corridors’ (CFCs).

In this connection, it has invited consultancy services for preparation of a feasibility report with bidding document for comprehensive development of nine corridors as CFCs.

The existing major road network in the city, was affected due to inadequacies in terms of carriageway width, drainage, pedestrian facilities and traffic management, apart from lack of efficient mass transport system. These inadequacies are putting up increasing pressure on the existing road network. Keeping this in view, GHMC has proposed to develop nine more CFCs.

GHMC officials told Express that the main objective of the study is to have comprehensive corridor development including widening of corridor to cater to future traffic demand wherever possible in open areas.

Steps are being taken to identify corridors causing conflicts and traffic delays and provide suitable grade separation scheme, including elevated corridors, flyovers, underpasses and interchanges that can provide uninterrupted traffic flow.
