TET Likely to Be Held in January

HYDERABAD: The government is likely to conduct Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in January and DSC examination later to recruit teachers in government schools. The government could not conduct TET or DSC for want of time after the formation of the state.

Sources said after TET in January, DSC will be conducted before the commencement of the next academic year.

However, to ensure proper education to students in government schools, the government recruited 7,491 Vidya Volunteers this year. This was revealed by deputy chief minister K Srihari here on Thursday.

He said the education department issued notification for filling 7,759 Vidya Volunteers this year. “So far, 7,491 posts were filled up by the respective district collectors and 6,488 Vidya Volunteers reported to duty,” Srihari said.

He added that the joining time for Vidya Volunteers has been extended up to October 5 from the earlier date of September 23. The government is now paying `8,000 honorarium per month for Vidya Volunteers.

The eligibility for SGT Vidya Volunteer is intermediate, BEd and TET, for School Assistants Degree, BEd and TET and for Language Pandits the eligibility is Oriental Course and Pandit Training. Sources said 59,000 candidates applied for 7,759 Vidya Volunteer posts this year.
