Rs 1,900 Cr Released for Water Works in GHMC

HYDERABAD: The State government on Wednesday accorded administrative sanction for Rs 1,900 crore for taking up water supply distribution network works for the peripheral circles of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Out of the Rs 1,900 crore, Rs 1,700 crore will be loaned from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) . The State will give counter guarantee for HUDCO loan. The remaining Rs 200 crore will be met from the state funds.

The amount will be utilised for Water Supply Distribution Network Project for  peripheral circles of GHMC which covers the packages of service reservoirs, inlet and outlet mains and distribution network. The project proposals consists of construction of service reservoirs as per the hydraulic zones in each circle and providing the feeder mains as inlet mains and trunk mains as outlet and distribution network.

Godavari Waters for City by Dec 15

IT minister KT Rama Rao has said that Godavari water will be supplied to Hyderabad by December 15. KTR held a review meeting with officials of Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board at his camp office here on Wednesday.

The minister reviewed the progress of   diversion of Godavari to the city. He directed officials to expedite the works. He enquired about the progress of works in Godavari first phase at Shamirpet and Gundla Pochampalli and also Krishna third phase works, especially the works at Tolichowk and Prashasan Nagar areas.
