Muslim Personal Law Board to Launch 'Deen Bachao Dastur Bachao' Campaign

HYDERABAD:The All India Muslim Personal Law Board is going to launch its nation wide campaign ‘Deen Bachao Dastur Bachao’ (Save Religion Save Constitution) against imposition of Yoga, Surya Namaskar, Vande Mataram, and others on people who do not share the practices. 

Stating the practices finds roots in Vedic scriptures and are Brahminical, members of the board said that the campaign would be launched in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.  Public meetings, seminars and symposiums would be conducted in the Telugu States. Awareness sessions would be organised at universities against the move.

 Speaking at a press conference at Princess Esra Hospital in Moghalpura, on Saturday, Sajjad Nomani, working committee member of AIMPLB, said that such imposition is against the rights guaranteed by Indian Constitution.

“We demand implementation of Constitution in letter and spirit,” he said adding their agenda is to secure the secular fabric of the nation.

He added that Yoga and Vande Mataram can be practised but cannot be imposed on those who do not share the same practices.

Leaders of minority religions and suppressed communities, joined the campaign, and  awareness session on the issues were conducted in Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Nomani said they got good response from many quarters after launching the campaign.

He stated that there is difference in the words and deeds of prime minister Narendra Modi. Objecting to the PM holding a meeting with  RSS, Nomani questioned, “What is the need for PM to conduct a meeting with RSS”.
