HYDERABAD: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will conduct the 65th All India Police Athletics Championship (AIPAC) between September 3 and 7 at GMC Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli here.

This is the second time CISF will be hosting the annual event held under the aegis of the All-India Police Sports Control Board. “About 40 teams with around 1,000 athletes from all paramilitary forces and state police organisations will take part in the championship,” CISF ADG Dharmendra Kumar said.

Kumar said that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan will inaugurate the opening ceremony whereas Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will grace the closing function.

The championship will bring together athletes from all the states and Central Police organisations of the country and provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.  “The stadium with synthetic tracks and adjacent sports tower is most ideal. In a short span, the Telangana government has renovated the facility into a 3 or 4 star hotel and it is going to be a permanent asset for the State government,” Kumar added.
