No E-canvassing Till End of Polling: TSEC

HYDERABAD: In view of the GHMC polls on Feb 2 from 7 am to 5 pm, TSEC has prohibited transmission of SMS and bulk SMSes of political nature till 5 pm on Feb 2.

All mobile service providers operating in GHMC area, candidates and political parties have been ordered to comply with the above said provision.

Section 600 of GHMC Act, 1955 prohibits display to the public any election matter by means of video or television or other similar methods. Anyone who contravenes this provision will be punished with imprisonment for a term of up to two years or fine or both, said TSEC secretary M Ashok Kumar.

TSEC issued directions to political parties, campaign managers, TV channels that election campaign in whatever form like public meetings or display of campaign material on TV, radio is strictly prohibited.
