Despite Election Commission's strict measures to ensure transparent elections, political parties attempt to distribute money, liquor to lure voters.

HYDERABAD: Despite the State Election Commission's strict measures to ensure transparent elections, the political parties made desperate attempts to distribute money and liquor to voters on the polling day too. Workers of several political parties were arrested at Vanastalipuram, Balkampet, Habsiguda divisions for trying to distribute money to voters. Voters too caught some of the party workers and handed them to the Police.

Clashes between political parties continued with allegations and counter allegations against each other. Tensed situation prevailed at Habsiguda polling booth as the TRS and TDP workers engaged in a fight over distribution of money to voters. TRS party leaders alleged that Police took side with the TDP and cooperated with them. The L B Nagar Police have arrested four people for distributing money at a polling booth at Chintakunta village.

Similarly, Congress and MIM party workers engaged in clashes at Shalibanda of Old City area. The Police immediately reached the spot and detained Charminar MLA Pasha Quadri, who allegedly attacked Congress party's contestant. TRS member of Parliament from Chevella constituency, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, alleged that illegal votes were casted at Shastrinagar of Rajendranagar division. He also filed a complaint with the concerned returning officer in this regard.
