City Enjoys Jalsa Concert

HYDERABAD: Idea Jalsa - Music for the Soul’ is back in Hyderabad and featured performances by Javed Akhtar, Ranjit Rajwada and Himani Kapoor. The 12-city concert tour that took place on Friday will conclude with the finale in Bengaluru on March 26. The music platform has already presented more than 7,000 musicians across genres.

Talking to Hyderabad Express during the sidelights, singer Himani Kapoor says, “When I started my career in Saregamapa music show, I was the only femalesinger who won the title award. Then I started singing in movies like Band Baaja Baaraat, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Dil Diya Hai and few others. I shared the dias with our Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently with a crowd of 70,000 people.” Her advice to the aspriing musicians was to learn and practice classical music. 

Singer Durga Jasraj, also part of the event says, “My father and guru, Pandit Jasraj considers Hyderabad as his hometown and we share a very strong emotional connect with the city. We wanted to do something really special and exciting for this beautiful city.” She presented Shankar Shambhu Jr’ qawwali at the event. “We are doing this for the first time and doing something for the first time is always special,” she adds.
