HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police apprehended as many as 26 people for selling Super Star Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ tickets in black on Friday. Police seized hundreds of tickets being sold illegally.
A Rs 50 ticket was being sold for Rs 500 and a Rs 100 ticket was being sold for Rs 1,000 at many theatres and police found many theatre managements indirectly indulging in the exercise. Sleuths of Special Operations Team attached to Cyberabad East and West commissionerates raided several theatres and found managements of some of the theatres having hired persons to sell tickets in black.
Two persons, M Nagender Babu (25), resident of Old MIG, BHEL and Bhasker (20), resident of Chandanagar, were nabbed from the premises of Srilatha Theatre under the Chandanagar police station limits.
“The owner of the theatre Jai Ram is absconding. We seized 18 online movie tickets, 13 regular tickets and a mobile phone from the accused. Some managements of theatres are indirectly indulging in encouraging miscreants in selling tickets illegally,” said M Gangadhar, SOT inspector, Madhapur. Similarly, Balanagar SOT arrested two persons at Kukatpally’s Viswanath Theatre and another theatre in Sanathnagar for selling tickets in black. “Police seized 126 Kabali Telugu movie tickets in black and Rs 11,640 in cash. The arrested persons were handed over to respective police stations for necessary action,’’ said K Narsinga Rao, inspector, LB Nagar SOT Zone.
