HYDERABAD: Music is the true companion in happiness and sadness, they say. ‘Have you ever thought about the task of blending multiple sounds to produce a song?’ The process of combining an array of sounds, including reverberations and echoes into one channel is called music or audio engineering. PA Deepak, one of the renowned mix engineers and record producers of India, shares his experiences in a tete-a-tete.

Born in Hyderabad and brought up in Vizag, Deepak followed his passion, pursuing recording engineering course from Audio Institute of America in San Francisco, US. He started his career as a guitarist and later became a recording engineer, and has been working as a mix engineer with A R Rahman, since 2005.

Deepak was invited as a special guest for the International Youth Convention 2016 recently held in Vizag, and said that he was indeed privileged to interact with the youngsters of the city and motivate them to give their hundred per cent in whatever field they chose.

The mix engineer said, “Music has been a source of inspiration since my childhood. Apart from this, the rarity and potential of accomplishment in this field is what motivated me.” The most memorable moment, he says was when he received an email with the subject ‘Congratulations on your Grammy Award’ which surprised and confused him. Later, talking of the younger generation, he asks them to “Follow your passion and dreams. Success in any field should not be considered as the peak, as it is something that will not stay forever. You have to keep working hard to achieve your goal, as responsibility adds up after every achievement”.
