Vikarabad SB Inspector's son, four constables arrested for assaulting watchman

HYDERABAD: Vikarabad Special Branch (SB) Inspector’s son and four constables, who assaulted a watchman two days ago in the city, were arrested by Saidabad police on Sunday.

According to the police, on September 1, Chityala Amruth, watchman, BDR Towers, Karanbagh, Saidabad, lodged a complaint stating that four persons came in a Sumo vehicle along with police and forcibly took him to the police station, beating him up all the while.

Based on a complaint, police registered cases and took up an investigation.

During the investigation, police collected CCTV footages near by the scene of offence and identified persons who physically assaulted the BDR Apartment watchman at Karanbagh, Saidabad,” said the East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), V Ravinder.

The accused were taken into custody based on CCTV footages and during the interrogation, they voluntarily admitted their guilt of this offence. The arrested persons are-- Ambati Prithviraj, SB Inspector Venugopalraju’s son,  23, Student, resident of Karanbagh,  Buranthapally Shiva Raj, 31, police constable of Ranga Reddy District, attached to SB, Chakali Mallesh, 24,  police constable, Uppari Ravi Kumar, 28, pice constable and Anthigirpally Rajkumar, 28,  police constable.
