Hyderabad man held for confining, sexually assaulting Kolkata-based woman

The accused, Preeth Shergill, a native of Punjab, was sent to judicial remand by a local court. Four other accused - Sulthan, Pinky Roy and two unknown persons are still absconding.

HYDERABAD: Months after a 19-year-old from Kolkata, who was confined in a flat in the city here and sexually assaulted by three men, Maredpally police have arrested a 39-year-old Choreographer and event manager on Saturday.

The accused, Preeth Shergill, a native of Punjab, was sent to judicial remand by a local court. Four other accused - Sulthan, Pinky Roy and two unknown persons are still absconding.

Police have seized mobile phones and Honda City car from the arrested. According to cops, the victim, a degree student, had reached Hyderabad airport on Feb 14 for a city visit. While she was on her way to Hotel Park, she met a woman Pinky Roy in a cab.

“They discussed places to visit in the city. Roy insisted her to join her and her friend Preeth Shergill,” said DCP B Sumathi. The DCP said Shergill made her drink soft drink laced with sedative and sexually
assaulted her.

The next day, another accused Sultan too assaulted her sexually. Later, two friends of Preeth too raped the girl. However, she managed to escape to Kolkata.
