HYDERABAD: A huge rush was witnessed at all the city bus terminals and railway stations on Saturday as thousands of people were leaving the city, courtesy the four-day long weekend.
In spite of running special buses to meet the increasing demand from the passengers, many were found facing hardships. Serpentine queues were seen at the city’s Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS).

“Four days of holidays come in handy for many students like me. But TSRTC has failed to arrange additional buses to our region, due to which people are forced to wait for hours on platforms, as we don’t have any train services,” said Mohammad Azharuddin, an engineering student who was waiting for a Karimnagar bus at JBS.

Denying any shortage of buses to many places in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, the State Road Transport Corporation official said that for the convenience of the passengers in the city, the corporation is running more than 100 special buses from JBS and MGBS. However, cab services came in handy for businessmen and software employees to the reach their home towns in Vijayawada and surrounding areas.
