HYDERABAD: Research scholar Rohith Vemula's brother Raja Vemula alleged that their father Mani Kumar was taken to Rohith's stupa at the University of Hyderabad by the police and garlanded it. On Tuesday evening, Radhika Vemula too wanted to garland the research scholar's statue. However, she, Raja Vemula and about 16 people were detained by Cyberabad Police.

"I will send photo proofs of them escorting my namesake father to Rohith's statue, they did so because he is a BJP supporter," Raja Vemula said.

When student protesters on Tuesday mid-night questioned the campus security on why was Mani Kumar allowed when Radhika Vemula and Raja were not allowed to do the same, the security personnel denied the allegation and asked for proofs to be shown.

After they were detained, he said, police let them off in the night after signing a document and asked them to leave to Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, their hometown, as soon as possible.
