61 kg of ganja seized in two separate incidents, three persons arrested

HYDERABAD/WARANGAL:  Uppal police arrested two persons on Tuesday for smuggling ganja from AP into the city. They seized 37 kg ganja and an auto rickshaw from the accused and remanded them. P Krupendar (20), an autorickshaw driver from Secunderabad, and D Srikanth (20), a mason from Alwal, were caught by the patrolling police when they were transporting ganja in five backpacks to the city.

The arrested duo, along with the seized material, were produced in the court and efforts were on to apprehend three others, police said. In another instance, railway police seized 24 kg of ganja worth `1.2 lakh from a passenger who was transporting it on the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express on Tuesday. The railway police checked the luggage of a passenger A Shekar who was travelling from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai when the train reached Warangal station and seized 24 kg of ganja.
