HYDERABAD: In the first week of February 2015, anti-human trafficking activist from Hyderabad Sunitha Krishnan's vehicle parked outside her NGO Prajwala's office near city's iconic Charminar was stoned by unidentified persons.

This was reported to be a backlash for an online campaign which she had started the previous evening. She had uploaded photographs of six alleged rapists and started off what is called "Shame The Rapists" campaign.

A friend had shared with her two separate videos of six men involved in gang rape, smiling for the camera during the act. After ensuring the identity of the victim was protected, she then posted the videos on YouTube, Facebook and on Twitter.

While going ahead with the campaign, she appealed to all to lookout for these rapists.

First, an eight-minute video showed five youths intimidating a girl by threatening to leak the video and photos, and took turns raping her even as she pleads for mercy. The second video, a four minute video, showed one youth holding the hands of a helpless victim, while another records it on his mobile phone.

After the incident, she had tweeted: “If goons think they can intimidate me this way… take a long walk boss, I will report come what may, I will track, I will shame and will report.”

The Supreme Court of India had taken up , in February 2015, a suo motu cognisance of Krishnan's letter to them after she failed to persuade the law enforcement agencies to trace the accused. The Apex court had also ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into two rape cases
