CM KCR gives nod for over 13,000 new staff to join electricity department

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday, gave permission for the appointment of a record 13,357 employees in the Electricity department.

Though Electricity organisations and institutions have been asking for the filling up of posts since 2012, no government had complied until now.

The CM on Tuesday instructed officials concerned to fill up the posts, which were vacant from 2012 and also recruit people for the future needs at one go. Rao ordered the appointment of 13,357 posts under TS Genco, Transco, two Discoms right from Junior lineman to Executive Director category. Of this, there are 1,500 non-technical posts, according to a release from CMO on Tuesday.

Rao also directed the officials concerned to give promotions to around 10,000 persons.When senior officials of the power sector led by Genco and Transco Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) D Prabhakar Rao, Joint Managing Director (JMD) Srinivasa Rao, Northern Power Distribution Company CMD Gopal Rao, Southern Power Distribution Company CMD Raghuma Reddy and others called on Rao and requested him for the recruitment of staff, Rao immediately gave his consent. 

As on date, 24 hours power supply is given to Industrial, Domestic and Commercial sectors and efforts are on to give uninterrupted power supply to farming sector from next year. CM said that he had agreed to large-scale appointments in electricity department to strengthen the state power sector.
