HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will accept applications online for Building Occupancy Certificate from May 8 as part of the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) initiatives. With this, the building plan approval system become 100 pc online..

As per the Building Rules, occupancy certificate is mandatory for all buildings except for individual buildings in plots measuring up to 100 sq.metres and with height up to 7 metres, which is optional.
The individual has to submit an application to the GHMC as per the standard procedure and the sanctioning authority inspects and issues occupancy certificate duly compounding the deviations in setbacks, if any.

According to GHMC chief city planner Devender Reddy, the application for occupancy certificate should be submitted from the user login through Development Permission Management System (DPMS) application duly attaching the required documents. The application will then directly go to the login of the scrutinising or inspecting officer of GHMC for further processing.

This online application for occupancy certificate is also valid for all permissions granted online as well as manual approvals.

It is also proposed to introduce periodical inspection reporting by applicants and officials in order to have a regular check on the construction carried out as per the sanctioned plan and to record the stage of construction periodically. Citizens, architects, engineers, surveyors can avail the online facility.

The corporation introduced DPMS to issue building permissions online from June last year. Initially, it was used to issue permissions for residential buildings and later, in February this year, extended for commercial and multi-storeyed buildings.

During 2016-17, out of 8,074 permissions given, 6,158 were issued through DPMS. The average time taken for disposal of applications is 22 to 27 days.
