HYDERABAD: Director of IIIT-Hyderabad, Prof PJ Narayanan, on Tuesday, responding to a query on driverless cars, said that while research is going on, there is a need to develop technologies faced in a city with bad roads.“As of now, on a pilot basis we are running a driverless car fitted with video camera, on our campus. It will capture the on-road conditions,” he said. The project is in tie up with the government. But he did not comment if government would incorporate the technology.

Speaking at the launch of a new programme by IIIT-H for tech professionals, the professor said the four-month-long programme on Foundation of AI and ML with hands-on teaching approach will enable engineers to build deep ML programming capabilities, a need of the hour.
