HYDERABAD: A military truck carrying machinery crane rammed into the crash barrier (height gauge) under bridge near Bible House in Ranigunj on Tuesday morning resulting in injuries to a few persons including two army jawans. Due to the impact, the crash barrier came down crashing. The traffic movement came to a grinding halt for a few hours as the road got blocked. Passersby rushed to the rescue of the injured and alerted the Mahankali police, who rushed the injured persons to Gandhi hospital for treatment. GHMC in coordination with South Central Railway (SCR) and Hyderabad police swung into action by pressing cranes and JCBs and removed damaged crash barrier.

The incident took place at around 9.30 am when a loaded military vehcile carrying machinery from Secunderabad was heading towards Bata, the front cabin portion smoothly passed through the crash barrier, however, the back portion of the vehicle rammed the metal barrier as the machinery which was more than the height of the crash barrier collided bringing the barrier down. GHMC officials said that crash barriers were constructed for a precautionary and safety measure to restrict heavy vehicles passing through road under bridges.
