HYDERABAD: Alleging that the Right wing organisations and the two Telugu state governments have together hatched a plan to suppress the voice of people’s organisations, revolutionary writer Varavara Rao on Saturday condemned the arrest of two ex-students of the University of Hyderabad by the Andhra Pradesh police. According to Rao, a plain clothed policemen arrived at the residence of Ankala Prudviraj, 27, at Gannavaram of Krishna district on March 28 and picked him up without giving a proper reason to his parents.

Prudhviraj’s father is a railway employee while his mother works in a hospital.
“Prudhviraj is secretary of Viplava Rachayitala Sangham (Virasam), a revolutionary writers organisation, in Krishna district. He was a research scholar at the Hyderabad Central University and was working on a thesis on caste system,’’ the writer said. Varavara Rao claimed that he had spoken to Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Ch Chinarajappa and Telangana Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy about the detention of Prudviraj and his friend Chandan Kumar Mishra and requested their immediate release.

“Prudviraj’s mother called on AP DGP M Malakondiah on Saturday and submitted a representation stating that her son was picked up by unknown persons. Also, a lunch motion petition was filed before the High Court seeking directions to Andhra Pradesh police to trace missing Prudhviraj and his friend,’’ Varavara Rao said.
