For a generation that grew up watching Chhota Bheem and following his adventures in Dholakpur, the idea of actually stepping into his world is bound to feel nostalgic. At the café on Road No 2, Jubilee Hills, that familiarity has been transformed into an experiential destination where children can meet their favourite characters, enjoy themed food, participate in activities and even celebrate birthdays surrounded by the world they have grown up watching on television.
Launched by Green Gold Animation and EBG Group, the café marks Green Gold Animation’s move beyond animation and content into experiential hospitality. The concept is centred around creating a family-friendly destination where children can eat, play and learn, while parents have a space to relax and spend quality time with them. The experience revolves around five elements — eat, play, shop, learn and celebrate — with the interiors and activities drawing inspiration from Dholakpur and familiar characters such as Chutki, Raju and Jaggu. The result is a space that feels less like a conventional café and more like an extension of the Chhota Bheem universe.
Children can explore dedicated play areas, games and merchandise, while interactive learning activities add another dimension to the experience. One such offering is Junior Chef, where children get hands-on experience in preparing their favourite dishes, including pizza, with a healthier twist. It is an attempt to make the experience entertaining while also introducing children to food and basic culinary skills in a playful setting.
The menu is another important part of the experience. Rather than relying solely on the usual children’s café fare, the concept places an emphasis on wholesome food and lighter preparations. The offerings include millet-based pizzas and burgers, snacks, themed desserts, smoothies and the much-loved Power Laddoo, inspired by Chhota Bheem’s legendary strength.
From the extensive, kid- and adult-friendly menu, we began with a Peach Iced Tea, which was particularly refreshing after a warm afternoon drive to the café. Among the nibbles, the Tomato Bruschetta stood out for its crisp texture, while the drizzle of olive oil added another layer of flavour. The Cheese Chilli Toast made for a comforting snack, with its generous cheesy goodness and a hint of spice.
Next came the Irani Café Mushroom Open Sandwich, which brought together sautéed mushrooms and sweet, caramelised onions on a crisp base. Paired with the Dholakpur Cutting Chai, it made for an indulgent afternoon break, almost like a little siesta in the middle of the day.
For those with a sweet tooth, the Pahalwan Brownie with Ice Cream and the Chocolate Pastry rounded off the meal on a decadent note. By then, the café had begun filling up with enthusiastic children, their laughter and excitement adding to the atmosphere as they explored the Dholakpur experience with their friends and parents.
