Basheer story at theatre festival

‘Premalekhanam ’, a stage adaptation of the famous short story of Vaikom Mohammed Basheer by Soorya Krishnamoorthy.

KOCHI: ‘Premalekhanam ’, a stage adaptation of the famous short story of Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, directed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy, will be staged in the International Theatre Festival of Kerala(ITFK) being held in Thrissur on Sunday.

The play will be staged as the platform play on the 6th day of the festival at the regional theatre at 5 pm.

`Simhabahu’, a Sree Lankan play will be staged at 7 pm at the indoor stadium. The festival is organised jointly by the Kerala State Cultural Department and the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy from December 22 to 31.

‘Premalekhanam’ (Love Letter) from Soorya Theatre Group will be staged in arena theatre style. It’s the 30th stage for the play. Script for the play is done by Basheer Manacaud. The drama revolves around the love between Saramma, a Christian woman and Kesavan Nair, a Hindu.
