TRIPUNITHURA: The mortal remains of renowned Carnatic musician Mavelikkara R Prabhakara Varma were consigned to flames with full state honours at the Thulu Brahmins cremation ground here on Monday.

Fisheries Minister S Sarma, K Babu MLA, music composer M K Arjunan Master, Thrikkakkara Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Raffique, K Omanakkutty, T R Raja Raja Varma (Thapasya), E P Sreekumar (Sree Poornathrayeesha Sangeetha Sabha) V N Venugopal (president, Ernakulam Fine Arts Society), Sreevalsan J Menon, Devanand, Vaikom Vasudevan Namboothiri, T A Sathyapal (secretary, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi) and Ranjini Suresh paid homage to the departed soul.

Additional District Magistrate K N Raji, Nadama village officer Shyamalakumari and tahasildar Mohandasan Pillai attended the funeral.
