KOCHI: If you have a penchant for technology and like to savour all technews at one go, then here is a mustvisit blog: Teck.in. The blogger is equally passionate about technology, or why should he dump a highprofile job in Infosys to find his own space in the cyberworld? Sreekandakumar Pillai now runs his own tech firm in the city and is surprised (like us) that his posts are being read by thousands to get that ‘tech-kick’.

Log on to www.teck.in and you can read about the latest in mobile, sms, management, internet, Google, Microsoft and so on. Updated almost every day, unless Sree is out of town, the blog (now bearing the look of a website) has 30,000 readers through RSS subscription.

Sree began the blog in 2005 and over the years, it has changed his life. ``I never thought technology would earn my bread for me. Initially, I posted certain basic programming and tech-stuff, but later found that there are many who want to know tech things in simple words, as against tech-language. I think that’s why my blog is widely read,’’ he says.

There are many who reach Sree’s blog via Google search and then linger on, smitten by the simplicity of the techstuff in it. Every new bit of information, if it’s related to technology, finds a place in teck.in. Whether that be about using Twitter with an SMS or the launch of a new mobile service in India or the new online facility launched by a public or private sector company - you can find it at teck.in.

With the coming of Twitter, Sree believes his posts are getting a wider range.

``Since I have linked my blog to social networking sites, my posts get updated in them.

Maybe that’s why the majority of my readers are youngsters, below 25, who like to update themselves on the latest tech-news,’’ says Sree.

During the Onam of 1999, when Sree was working in New Jersey, nostalgia overpowered him.

He came up with Ananthapuri.

com then (Sree is a native of Chenkottukonam in Thiruvananthapuram), which has the perfect menu for a non-resident Malayali’s reading.

He later started Sankethikam.

com for tech buffs in Malayalam.

While Ananthapuri is still going strong, the latter has slowed down.

With so much in hand and a blog that is adding new readers each day, no wonder Sree had the courage to quit his job. The latest group site that has Sree’s attention is Sreyas.in, which has spiritual content in Malayalam. He also worked for Shoutout, which is a consumer website in Malayalam initiated by the Trivandrum Bloggers Group.
