Key accused in online sex racket case held

KOCHI: The City Police on Tuesday arrested the main culprit in the online sex racket case.

The police had registered a case after the High Court took a suo motu case in the issue.

Udayachandran of Vazhakkulam, Kochi, was arrested from the city and was produced before Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate Court and remanded till July 6. The police said that currently there are 17 cases related to sex trade against him. He was the main accused in a sex racket case registered by the Kalamassery police, in which actress Reshma was involved. The police said that on interrogation Udayachandran revealed more details about the number of sex rackets operating in the city.

City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham said that on the basis of the information collected from him, investigation will be extended to other cities in the State and in south India. He said that the attempt was to trap the people behind these sex rackets and arrest them.
