KOCHI: After two years of leaving home to nowhere, Sivakumar who has been at the Palluruthy Relief Settlement was reunited with his family from Chennai, in Kochi on Monday.

It was a tearful moment for Sivakumar and his brother-in-law Paramdhamam, an employee of IDBI, who has been his guardian since the age of seven. Sivakumar, a dancer deserted home after his relatives accused him of not being able to father a child.

Having lost his parents during childhood, it was his sister Tamil Selvi and husband Paramdhamam who looked after Sivakumar.

Paramdhamam is the All- India Organising Secretary of IDBI Employees’ Union, Chennai.

He studied dance at Natyamandir and was working as a supervisor in the RBI canteen.

In 2004, he got married to Selvi but the couple were issueless. He left home following allegations over his inability to father a child in 2007 and went to Bangalore.

He does not remember how he came to Kerala but by then he was mentally-disturbed.

He was found at the South Railway Station and was taken by an autodriver to the General Hospital as he was completely deranged. After treatment, he was shifted to Palluruthy Home Settlement, where he recovered and remembered his roots. “When we contacted his family and brother-in-law, they were only too happy to come and taken him home,” said P J George, Superintendent, Palluruthy Relief Settlement.
