KOCHI: The first CEP workshop on 'Maths modelling: Theory and practices' for science and maths teachers will be held from December 1719 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Over the past few years, almost every subject has started utilising mathematical tools, as mathematics gives a precise way of formulating and analysing a problem to arrive at logical conclusions. Since teachers teach as they have been taught, the workshop is designed to introduce modelling instructions and to equip science teachers to enhance and expand student interest in learning as they develop a practical and conceptual understanding.

It will also prepare teachers to implement modelling instruction pedagogy and materials in their classroom, by giving them theory and practice inputs.

Science and maths teachers at the secondary/senior secondary level in schools and junior colleges will benefit out of the programme. All the participants will be given a participation certificate by IIT Bombay.

The course fee is `6500 a teacher (`6000 for a group of 2 or more teachers from the same school).

The fees must be paid by a demand draft drawn in favour of Registrar, IIT Bombay (CEP A/c). The last date for filing applications is November 30. For details, visit www.math.iitb.ac.in ? ENS
