KOCHI: The 57th birthday celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi will begin at 5 a.m. on the Amritapuri campus of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on September 27.
The celebrations will begin with Lalitha Sahasranamam Archana.
Padapuja by disciples, felicitation of Central Ministers and other distinguished guests and Amma's birthday discourse will be held in the morning, a press release said. Amrita Keerti Puraskar will be presented to those who have made outstanding contributions to Vedic learning, Vedic literature and Tantra. The Insurance Protection Scheme for Amrita SelfHelp Groups, pensions for new Amrita Nidhi beneficiaries, distribution of Vidyamritam scholarships to students and distribution of clothes to 25,000 women from impoverished families will be inaugurated, the release said.
A mass marriage ceremony will be held during which the couples will be given wedding clothes, ornaments and financial aid. A Malayalam translation of Amma's biography by American writer Judith Cornell, published by Mathrubhumi Books, will be released.
'From Amma's Heart,' a compilation of Amma's teachings, by Amrita Books, the new publication wing of Amrita Enterprises Pvt Ltd, will be released. The special commemorative Matruvani publication will also be released. The ashram's website in nine Indian languages will be inaugurated. This will be followed by Amma's darshan.
