Vasudevan Pillai, 85, passed away on Monday. He is the son of Thattarambalam Onattil the late M R Ramakrishna Pillai of Mavelikkara.  Founder of five schools of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pillai has also served as the founder director of Cochin Co-operative Hospital (Indira Gandhi Hospital). He was  a member of Kerala Fine Arts Society,  Chavara cultural Centre and Ernakulam Karayogam.

  He is the  founder and executive trustee of M K K Nair Foundation,  founder secretary of Sahitya Parishad Co-operative Society,  founder of Thilakam Press and Publishing Company  and Publisher of  two magazines - Thilakam and Poompatta  and president of Rasikapriya Music Academy. Pilla’s body will be kept at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium on T D Road from 9 am to 11 am on Tuesday for public homage. The funeral will be held at Ravipuram crematorium.

 His wife Anakotil Omana Thankam  and sister Sreedevi had predeceased him. Krishnakumar is his son. Advocate R Raghavan Pillai is his brother.
