KOCHI: Ashok Leyland launched its first-ever light vehicle, the ‘DOST’ at the Le Meridien Hotel here on Friday. Executive vice-chairman of Hinduja Automotive V Sumantran and executive director Nithin Seth were present at the launch.
Executive vice-chairman of Hinduja Automotive Ltd and chairman of Nissan Ashok Leyland Powertrain, V Sumantran said: “With the commercial launch of DOST, Ashok Leyland fills an important gap in its product line-up. It is the true reflection of the evolving needs of Indian LCV customer. We have attempted to pack a lot into DOST- increased payload, improved fuel efficiency as well as class leading performance, comfort and safety aimed at offering a uniquely superior experience at a very competitive cost of ownership.”
The vehicle, which comes in the price range Rs 3.79 to 4.38 lakh, aims at giving customers a chance to ensure Japanese technology at Indian costs. Being the only air- conditioned light motor vehicle ever launched compared to its competitors, the company also boasts of providing the best mileage per ten kilometres as part of the ARAI mileage checking standard.The company, under the joint venture of the Nissan Motor Company, has manufactured ‘DOST’ having a payload capacity of 1.25T and also featuring power steering and a dual colour beige gray fabric seats.
