KOCHI:  The annual summer coaching camp for football conducted by Sealine Santos Club has begun at the Parade Ground in Fort Kochi.

Under the guidance of former Santosh Trophy footballer and veteran coach Rufus D’ Souza, Santos Club has been conducting coaching camps at the historic venue for the past 40 years.

Mattanchery Assistant Commissioner of Police M Benoy inaugurated the latest edition of the camp. More than 60 trainees including three-year old Karma from Tibet are participating in the camp which is being held for six days a week from 6 am to 9.30 am.

“Some talented boys have joined the camp this year. We expect more youngsters to join the camp,” said D’ Souza. Former South African player and coach Essop ‘Smiley’ Moosa provided expert advice to the trainees on the opening day.The camp is slated to run through to May 31.
