KOCHI: From time immemorial, art and religion have been intertwined and influential. Beauty has been personified through art and the divine through religion. Though man has come a long way from depicting cave art to the post-modern era, there still exists a search for identity, said art critic Johny M L. He was speaking at a seminar titled “ Spiritual Experience and Art” in connection with the on going Bible festival at the Pastoral Orientation Centre (POC) at Kochi on Tuesday.

“By depicting pictures, man not only documented  the mundane, but also giving a solid picture of his feelings, which later traversed through many channels,” he said.

“Though art is related to “gaze”, there exists a huge difference between “gaze” and “perspective”,” he said. Fr Stephen Alathara, deputy secretary general of the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council(KCBC). The Bible fest which commenced on May 27 will conclude on June 3.
