S African gets bail in fraud case

The Kerala High Court on Monday granted bail to Mary Habeeba Abainu of Johannesburg, South Africa, who was arrested in July in connection with an online lottery fraud case.

Justice P Bhavadasan issued the order while allowing a bail plea filed by Abainu. The  prosecution case was that the South African woman cheated a person saying that he had won a lottery ticket with a prize of `200 crore. In a lucky draw on the Net, he was asked to pay `85,000 dollars for customs clearance.  The court directed the accused to execute a bond for `1 lakh with two solvent sureties to the like sum and also said that she shall not leave Thrissur district without permission.
