SC/ST forum seeks Anil’s resignation

Express News Service

Alleging that Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes A P Anil Kumar had given scheduled caste certificates to members of the Thandan community, the Kerala SC-ST Federation has demanded his resignation.

“There is a High Court order that the Thandan community is not eligible to get a SC/ST certificate. Now, Anil Kumar is helping the community acquire the certificates. The minister should be sacked. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should take over the portfolio,” the members said.

They also asked the government to withdraw the application of the LDF Government to include Kudumbi and Deerava communities in the SC list. They sought an inquiry on government job recruitments using illegal caste certificates. They said the government was doing nothing for the welfare of the tribal community in Attappadi.

“Necessary steps should be taken to resolve the problems of the people,” they said. The federation also demanded that landless SC/ST must be given an acre of land per head. If the government failed to take any action on their demands before May 15, the association members said they would launch an indefinite hunger strike in front of the residence of Anil Kumar.
