NRI businessman M A Yusuf Ali has entered the Forbes 2013 Billionaires List. At the 974th position, Yusuffali is the only Malayali in the list.Yusuf Ali (net worth $1.5 billion as of March 2013) tops the list of Kerala billionaires, followed by Kris Gopalakrishnan, of Infosys ($1.35 billion), Joy Alukkas ($1 billion) and T S Kalyanaraman ($1 billion), of Kalyan Group.
Among Indian billionaires, Yusuf Ali and Alukkas rank 35th and 52nd, respectively.According to the magazine, Yusuffali heads the Abu Dhabi-headquartered LuLu Group, whose flagship venture is the $4.25 billion (sales) LuLu retail chain and is one of the 10 fastest growing retailers in the world. The first shopping mall of the group in India will start operations in Edappally soon.
