Express News Service

The Organised Crimes Wing of the Crime Branch on Thursday arrested Lissy Sojan, the alleged kingpin of a sex racket in West Asia.

A native of Wadakanchery, 40-year-old Lissy, alias Leena Basheer alias Aswathy, was running  the racket which trafficked women from Kerala and other states to the Gulf for sex work.

According to Crime Branch officials, she was arrested from Aluva before she could surrender in court. During the interrogation, Lissy admitted that she returned from Dubai a year ago and was staying in different parts of the country.

However, SP Alex K John said the statement could be confirmed only after a detailed interrogation.

Lissy is accused in three cases. These cases were registered after a Keralite woman  was arrested with a fake passport at the Mumbai airport in June,2012.

The woman, a native of Kazhakkoottam in Thiruvananthapuram, was taken to Sharjah for domestic work last year. However, Lissy allegedly forced her into flesh trade. But she managed to escape and reached Mumbai with the help of NRIs.

Lissy took the victim to Sharjah using the passport of another woman hailing from Kattapana in Idukki, who also was a victim of the sex racket.
