KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Village, an ayurvedic health resort promoted by Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital & Research Centre, at Koothattukulam.
In a function presided over by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob, another project jointly promoted by Sreedhareeyam and the State Medicinal Plant Board for cultivating medicinal gardens in 50 schools was also launched by Sreekumar, CEO, State Medicinal Plant Board.
The Chief Minister also released the English version of a collection of 1,000 ophthalmic disease treatment methodologies titled ‘Nethrasahasrayogam’, a first of its kind book, compiled and authored by Dr N P P Namboothiri, managing director, Sreedhareeyam.
Namboothiri said the new Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Village, with its 20 Ayur Villas, will have an array of modern amenities in addition to the facilities for various traditional Ayurvedic treatments including panchakarma to offer to the patients visiting from different parts of India and the world. The amenities include swimming pool, electric cars, multi gym, billiards centre and health club, developed in 1-acre of scenic land at a project cost of Rs seven crores.Hari N Namboothiri, director, Sreedhareeyam, said that through the medicinal garden project, Sreedhareeyam will set up medicinal gardens in 50 selected schools. M J Jacob, ex-MLA presented the first set of seedlings to students.
The function was also attended by M Murali, Ex MLA, N. Narayanan Namboothiri, chairman, Sreedhareeyam, Kalidasa Bhattathiri, state president, Yogakshemasabha and Seena Johnson, president, Koothattukulam panchayat.
