‘Othoruma’, the three-day camp for children, organised by the Oruma  Foundation, was held at Changampuzha Park on Monday.

    The camp was inaugurated by playwright and lyricist Biyar Prasad. The camp  is open for children of the 7-14  age group. In the morning session, renowned Theyyam artists C K Andipanicker and his son C K Sivadasan Kuttoth led an interactive art and craft session where children were taught to make caps, spectacles,and figures of animals and  birds out of tender coconut leaves. This was followed by an introduction to Theyyam following which children got acquainted with the make up and steps of the art form.

The highlight of the evening session was an extempore by George Paul who  addressed children in the disguise of Mahatma Gandhi and shared Gandhian principles with them.

The three day camp will be concluded on Wednesday. The drama ‘Kallurutti’ by K N Panicker will be staged.
