Training Centre For Metro Employees Opened

KOCHI: An exclusive training centre for conducting safety induction, training and seminar for the employees of the contractors Soma working with the Kochi Metro Project was opened at the FACT Casting Yard in Kochi.

Advanced safety training using multimedia devices will be a key feature of the centre which consists of a training centre, occupational health centre and a safety park.

The occupational health centre is a fully furnished with a doctor and trained nurse to take care of medical emergencies and other routine medical care required for all the employees involved in the activities of the Kochi Metro Rail project.

At the Safety Park, new employees will get hands-on training on personal protective equipment and other safety-related gadgets. Features, including safety posters and catchy safety slogans, are the attractions.

 At one time training can be imparted to 100 workers. All Soma workers and supervisory staff will be provided training by in-house as well as external trainers.

The Safety Training Centre was inaugurated by DMRC project director

P Sri ram and the occupational health centre was opened by DMRC chief engineer (Kochi Metro Rail project) G  Kesava Chandran.

According to DMRC officials, the setting up of the training centre is a key initiative towards achieving high standards in safety among contractors involved in Kochi Metro Rail project .
