KOCHI:A new barge with capacity of 1,500 tonne has been deployed at the Cochin Port for bunkering round-the-clock throughout the year. “The barge, Sanghrajka, is capable of supplying oil to transiting ships in the outer roads even during monsoon,” stated the Port Trust. The barge, chartered by Geostan Marine Private Limited, has the capacity to carry 1,400 MT of black oil and 200 MT of white oil.
The vessel, built in 2014, was greeted by Port Trust chairman Paul Antony and senior officials at its inaugural service on Saturday.
With the latest addition, the number of bunker barges at Cochin Port has gone up to six.
