K G George Bags First Masters

KOCHI: Veteran Malayalam film director K G George has been  selected for the first Masters Award, the biggest of its kind in the country for film technicians, instituted by FEFKA.

The award consisting of Rs 10 lakh  is equivalent to the highest film award in the country, Dada Saheb Phalke award for life achievement, in the prize money. “We are happy and proud to select George sir, who is undoubtedly one of the brilliant film-makers ever produced in the state for the award. The  national level Masters Award for technicians will be given once in three years. A statuete also will be a part of the award”, said B Unnikrishnanan, FEFKA general secretary  while announcing the award here on Wednesday.

George who was present at the occasion said he  is feeling “happy and proud” to be selected for the award.

The date of award ceremony, which would attended by the top technicians of the country, will be announced soon, said FEFKA office-bearers.

George has directed 19 films  and produced one. He is a winner of nine state awards.
