AVA Group Snaps up Brand Melam

KOCHI: Manufacturers and marketers of the Medimix brand, AVA Group, has acquired Kerala-based Melam brand from MVJ Foods (India) Private Limited for an undisclosed amount. The deal includes all MVJ food brands and their manufacturing facility at Kochi

 The acquisition was through AVA Condiments LLP, a newly established wholly owned subsidiary of AVA Cholayil Health Care Pvt Ltd. Melam, one of the oldest brands in Kerala, started off in 1992 and has a strong domestic and export presence.

 “The marketing of Melam brand has been done by AVA Group since June 1 this year. Now the group has acquired the business infrastructure. The 400-employees of the brand will also be retained. The acquisition by the AVA Group will add to its strength and reach in other geographies,” said Kurian John Melamparambil, Chairman and Managing Director, MVJ Foods (India) Private Limited.

 “We are glad to expand into the food business. Both the AVA Group’s Medimix brand and Melam are household names built on quality and social commitment.

“In India, initially we would like to expand into Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,” said A V Anoop, Chairman and Managing director, AVA Group.
