KOCHI: The Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax Commissionerate, Kochi, on Saturday arrested the proprietor of an advertising agency for service tax evasion.
The investigation revealed that the advertising agency evaded service tax to the tune of `3.21 crore during fiscal years 2010-2011 to 2014-2015.The firm allegedly collected `2.90 crore from clients, but failed to pay the same to the exchequer in the stipulated time.Subsequently, a case was registered. The arrested person was produced before the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The court remanded him to Judicial Custody.
