'Govt Bent on Enacting Lang Bill'

Express News Service

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is bent on enacting Malayalam Language Bill, said Minister for Culture K C Joseph. He said he was not sure whether it would come up for discussion in the next Assembly session. He was speaking on the sidelines of Kerala Piravi Day celebrations organised by State Institute of Languages at Vyloppilli Samskruthi Bhavan here. A draft of the Bill examined by the Cabinet is being refined with certain modifications, he said.

The anxiety of some writers over the delay in enacting the Bill proposed by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was uncalled for, as the government was committed to enacting it. He said the government was planning to launch a new programme, ‘Vajra Bhasha Programme’ on January 1. It will conclude on November 1, 2016.
