Karayis Get Court Nod to Visit Kannur

KOCHI: The CBI Court on Friday granted permission to CPM leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan, the seventh and eighth accused in the Thalassery Fazal murder case, for visiting Kannur in connection with  counting of votes in the local body election on Saturday.

The duo had filed a petition in this regard, and the court granted permission after hearing the counsels of the accused.

Rajan and Chandrasekharan had sough permission to stay in Kannur until Monday. However, the court ordered that the accused be moved to Kannur on Friday evening, and brought back to Ernakulam on Sunday morning after the election results are announced. They will have to report at the court on Monday.

Rajan is contesting in the district panchayat election in the the Pattyam division, which is a CPM stronghold. Chandrasekharan is contesting in the Chellath ward of Thalassery municipality. The duo has been staying in Ernakulam for more than one year, after they were granted bail with restriction on movement.
