Kerala HC Orders CBI Probe Into Shukoor Murder Case

P Ramdas

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday ordered CBI probe into the murder of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker Ariyil Shukoor, making life difficult for the CPM.

CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan and the party MLA T V Rajesh are 32 and 33 accused in the case.

In its order, the Court said that it cannot "shut its eyes" to the hard reality that the State police cannot further investigate the case in a fair manner, where two policial leaders are involved.

22-year-old Shukoor was murdered in 2012 because he was involved in an attack on Jayarajan and Rajesh while they were travelling in a vehicle, as per the chargesheet.
