KOCHI: The techies who shot to fame with their 9-minute short film ‘Blue Rose’ are back with their next venture. Gokul Narayanan, who led the crew for their previous ventures will be at the helm of things once again. All of the people behind these ventures are from Infosys, Thiruvananthapuram.
"Even though I’m working as a technology analyst at Infosys, my passion remains separated from my career. I’m interested in the field of films; I like to script and direct short films,” said Gokul Narayanan
“The shoot of our new short film will commence within two months. It will be a comedy entertainer and is tentatively titled ‘Vattapperu’,” said Gokul Narayanan. Ranjith Pillai will be the production manager.
Thiruvananthapuram will be the prime shooting location of the short film. Gokul says the Tamil movie ‘sudugadu’ is the inspiration for his film.
“The story doesn’t make a deliberate connection with real life, but the idea behind this theme is based on an incident that took place in my life.” said Gokul.
While his other works ‘Blue Rose’ and ‘Emblica’ hover around a romantic theme, this will be an entirely different story. “Music and romance take a back seat in the script. It’s more about situational comedy.” added Gokul.
Within two months of its release, ‘Blue Rose’ had garnered more than 1 lakh viewers on Youtube. The film was produced on a budget of Rs 1 lakh.
The ‘Blue Rose’ team was full of techies. Produced by Ranjith pillai, the music is composed by Brindley sujith and cinematography by Alan varghese. The song was sung by Sooraj Santhosh (Masala Coffee singer). The rest of the technicians were tech professionals.
The name ‘Blue Rose’ was suggested by Gokul Narayanan. The blue rose is symbolic of people who are ‘unreal’. The story is about a boy who mistakes an unreal situation for real. Even though the movies made by Gokul Narayanan and others don’t have anything to do with the life of techies, they turn out to be big hits among the Technopark employees, and the crew hopes for the same results for their upcoming film as well
