Elected Mother General of Franciscan Sisters of St Elizabeth

KOCHI: Sister Lissie Thattil of Nayathode under the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese has been elected the Mother General of the Rome-headquartered Franciscan Sisters of St Elizabeth. Sr Thattil was elected the Mother General at the 15th general chapter of the congregation. It is the first time an Asian has been elected the Mother General of the congregation founded in 1862 by Father Ludovico (Saint Ludovico of Casoria) in Naples, Italy. A graduate in theology and pedagogy, Sr Lissie has been serving in Italy for the past 35 years.
